THE SABBATH, KEEP IT HOLY

From the time of the beginning
when in six days God did make,
the universe, the earth and sea, the heavens
He did it for our sake.

Then on the seventh day He blessed it
made it Holy for all time,
a time to praise Him, sow good seeds
assist His people, all mankind.

Through the years that followed
we obeyed, but now the times have changed,
blinded by our love of earthly things
our lives we’ve rearranged.

First comes all the earthly pleasures
fun and games, the pampering of our flesh,
with no thought of spending time with Him
thank Him for His faithfulness.

For all we have has come from Him
He gives us all our days,
yet we can’t even get out of bed
to go and give Him thanks and praise.

The hour’s late, the time is now
don’t waste another day,
bring back to God the living
of the Holy Sabbath Day.
