SAVING RIVER
Oh River of Peace
fount of joy evermore,
through my life coursing
new paths to explore.
Flooding old channels
opening new,
bringing light where once darkness
was all that I knew.
The floodgates were opened
when You died on the Cross,
the cleansing You promised
for us not to be lost.
Oh Precious Blood flowing
from the hill through my heart,
cleanse and nourish all people
to each a new birth impart.
When my life is ebbing
may I flow with the tide,
on Your Saving River
to Your Heart, I’ll abide.

THE GIFT OF JOY
I want to tell you of the joy
that in my heart does dwell,
given to me by my Saviour
my mind could not foretell.
That with each beat the rhythm
of His gracious gift does grow,
until the dam within me breaks
and the praises overflow.
Even then it’s so inadequate
no words, no hymns of praise,
can tell you what’s inside me
as the tide begins to raise.
I can only wait and bide my time
and write faint words like these,
until that day He calls me
all my joy, for Him, to please.

NIGHT LIGHT
The moon shone luminescent
on the stillness of the night,
veiled all around in gossamer
sweet vision of delight.
It wakened me in calling
come and see the night aglow,
don’t miss a single moment
of Creation that I show.
The trees outlined against the soft
and shining firmament,
bedecked with starlight in their crowns
whispering prayers, to heaven sent.
Long swaying grasses in the field
like waves upon the sea,
gayly play with joyful daises
that are so thankful, just to be.
It has no light to call its own
reflects the glory of the sun,
and shows us all the wonders
sent by God for everyone.

TRIUNE LOVE
Glory to the Father
Glory to the Son,
Glory to the Spirit
who with abundance come.
The Father has created
only good for all mankind,
magnificence and splendour
everyday to shine.
His Son, The Word, our Saviour
was born, for us to die,
to save us so we won’t be lost
live with Him by and by.
The Holy Spirit, flame of love
seals His love upon my heart,
I long to better know Him
and never be apart.
Thank You God The Father
thank You God The Son,
thank You God, the Holy Spirit
my heart, Your love, has won.

HIS DWELLING PLACE
The dwelling place for God alone
is not in temples made of stone,
but in the hearts of everyone
made in the image of His Son.
Safeguard it’s threshold ,neatly swept
each chamber pure and cleanly kept,
a heart, that with each throb does raise
in ardour, glorias and praise.
The Lord our God is everything
and to His love wants all to cling,
then He will give to each His prize
for where He dwells is Paradise.
He wants to be each hearts sweet guest
fill with His love and tenderness,
so cleanse each heart of every sin
temples of gold, He’ll dwell within.

OMNIPRESENCE
You’ve spoken Your Word to me
from my time of reasoning,
it kept the joy within my heart
and made me ‘oft to sing.
You spoke it when I frequented
the old folk on our street,
when I rowed out on the river
with dear Mr. Gabourie
He taught me how to fish content
without a wasted word,
when the water lapping at the prow
was the only sound I heard.
Afterwards, there’d be a treat
crab apples, red and gold,
their nectar warm and tender sweet
in my mouth delights unfold.
There were my jaunts up to the pond
where new life was full to bursting,
pussy willows, frogs and turtles
for God’s things my soul was thirsting.
And in the night, before I slept
hymns of crickets and of frogs,
wafted through the swaying curtains
a lullaby from God.
For in these sweet and simple things
even then, I understood and saw,
Your Word that every instant spoke
“I am The Lord Your God”.

THE PATH TO PEACE
As soon as we did enter there
tranquillity was in the air,
no one spoke in voice aloud
the sky adorned with soft grey cloud.
There was but a trace of breeze
that flitted in around the trees,
the birds, they trilled their Springtime song
to cheer us as we walked along.
At each station, when we paused to pray
to join Him on His painful way,
to carry our cross one with Him
His so heavy, our so slim.
As the path became more steep
ropes tied to trees, did help us keep,
from stumbling, and causing pain
His situation not the same.
Around His waist the ropes were tied
held by a man on either side,
pulled harshly, made to trip and fall
He shed His Blood for one and all.
All around us ‘neath the trees
new life was struggling to be free,
dainty blossoms, lifting up their faces
to receive His many blessings, graces.
The many stones embedded all along
like hardened hearts, to man belong,
for these and all, He walked the path
to save is from the Father’s wrath.
And when our walk with Him was done
peace in our hearts was finally won,
all our cares He did release
when we walked with Him, the path to peace.
