RIVER OF SORROW

There is a river of sadness
that meanders through my heart,
its flow is sometimes gentle
then on a rampage it departs.

The eddies tug and drag me down
with sorrows I am sated,
the pains and hurts of life absorbed
that make my heart so weighted.

My river of sadness has a twin
it flows through the heart of Jesus,
as He watches all His children
do the things He so displeases.

In fear and desperation
I call out to my Saviour,
He asks me just to trust in Him
and for my faith to never waver.

Jesus in all His mercy
extends His hands out o’er the torrent,
He cries out to the Father
who calms all of my life’s torment.

The river then becomes a trickle
and I get down on my knees,
to thank the Calmer of my storm
who puts my heart at ease.

FOLLOWERS OF JESUS

We hear Your call Lord Jesus
every moment of each day,
to say ‘yes’ to all the things You ask
and not forget to pray.

To watch out for all Your children
to lend a helping hand,
to dry a tear, and give a smile
spread love o’er all the land.

Your love is at our centre
as we all meet once a week,
to share, and sing and praise You Lord
to be one with you we seek.

We are followers of Jesus
drawn like moths unto a flame,
like filings to a magnet
ever to praise Your Holy Name.
