PENNIES FOR HEAVEN

The Father gives His every child
a treasury of love,
filled with mercy and compassion
forgiveness, from above

All His Love, His Peace, and Joy
our gifts of Faith and Hope,
His Solace and His Comfort
that help us daily cope.

These gifts like precious pennies
from out the Father’s hand
not to be stored, or hoarded
but spent, it is His plan.

Each time we see a neighbour
needing life’s necessities,
or crying out for comfort
when grief brings him to his knees.

Feeling lost and all alone
words of hope we can extend,
a hug, to let him know he’s loved
just being there, will mend.

Jesus is a gentle beggar
holding out His wounded hands,
pleading for our precious pennies
to be spent for all of man.

For the more that we do spend them
the more that there will be,
we’ll store treasure up in heaven
out of love, Oh God for Thee.
