WE COME

We come with bodies broken
with crutches, canes and chairs,
with hearts all torn and bleeding
burdened by our earthly cares.

With our spirits sadly dampened
by hurtful word and deed,
by our failures and frustrations
by our coldness and our greed.

Our hearts and minds and bodies
plagued by every sickness known,
the worst of these, the sinfulness
that in our souls has grown.

We come with souls a-yearning
Your forgiveness we do seek,
in shame before Your Majesty
in trembling, prostrate creep.

We come with these afflictions
along the road of Love Divine,
to Your arms outstretched and waiting
to Your Mercy for all time.

Then You will wipe away each tear
and fill our empty, broken hearts,
enfold us in Your Arms of Love
nevermore to part.
