THE HUMBLE STABLE

Rejoice! rejoice!
be of good cheer,
our loving Saviour
is very near.

The world, it waits
in anticipation,
the Glorias of angels
announcing peace to all nations.

The stable is still
the manger awaits,
a humble abode
in a tumble down state.

Joseph and Mary
so tired and worn,
found no place but this
for The Child to be born.

So they did what they could
with what little they had,
never complaining
their hearts were so glad.

Joseph gave her what comfort
his love could provide,
he prayed and waited
not far from her side.

Soon the stable was filled
with heavenly light,
and enveloped sweet Mary
in ecstasy, from his sight.

Oh, the joy and the peace
and the light it did pour,
from out the poor stable
through the cracks and the floor.

And lo, there’s the virgin
in her arms holding tight,
the precious wee Christ Child
to turn darkness to light.

To this day the Hosannahs
reverberate still,
the Good News ever echoing
and all men’s hearts thrill.
