THE PATH TO PEACE

As soon as we did enter there
tranquillity was in the air,
no one spoke in voice aloud
the sky adorned with soft grey cloud.

There was but a trace of breeze
that flitted in around the trees,
the birds, they trilled their Springtime song
to cheer us as we walked along.

At each station, when we paused to pray
to join Him on His painful way,
to carry our cross one with Him
His so heavy, our so slim.

As the path became more steep
ropes tied to trees, did help us keep,
from stumbling, and causing pain
His situation not the same.

Around His waist the ropes were tied
held by a man on either side,
pulled harshly, made to trip and fall
He shed His Blood for one and all.

All around us ‘neath the trees
new life was struggling to be free,
dainty blossoms, lifting up their faces
to receive His many blessings, graces.

The many stones embedded all along
like hardened hearts, to man belong,
for these and all, He walked the path
to save is from the Father’s wrath.

And when our walk with Him was done
peace in our hearts was finally won,
all our cares He did release
when we walked with Him, the path to peace.
