CUP OF SILENCE

In silence ever deepening
another world is taking shape,
there is nothing I can do
and no place to escape.

I know not why it has to be
or when ‘twill be complete,
I search the faces of the knowledge
in their eyes I see defeat.

I read the faces of my family
and those of all my friends,
I watch for any little clue
to help me comprehend.

Lord, let their patience for me grow
all my pain I offer up,
what will be, is in Your hands
help me lift and drink the cup.

And though it’s taste is bitter
to the last I’ll drink my fill,
with Your Joy deep in my heart
as I do Your Holy Will.
